New Mazda2 has New Power Train

This month is the schedule of the production of one of the highly anticipated cars for 2007 the new Mazda 2. And for this model, a new power train has been made by Mazda.

Aimed at making the new Mazda 2 one of the most economical cars in its class, a special new engine type is being used to fit the car.

Mazda is the sole car maker to use Wankel or rotary technology. Aside from this, it is also the only user of Miller-cycle technology. The Japanese company will also utilize this same engine type for its new Mazda2 model.

Early reports say that the new Mazda super mini will yield up to 20 percent boost in fuel economy using such engine type. Mazda has started developing the said engine even before the start of the 90s era.

Previously, the Hiroshima-based auto maker created V6 Miller-cycle engines for its larger sedans. Some of these vehicles entered New Zealand both as used imports and as new evaluation vehicles.

Most of the petrol engines have used the normal Otto-cycle since the dawn of the internal combustion engine. But the Miller-cycle engines run slightly differently as compared to the Otto-cycle. The closing of a Miller-cycle's intake valves are deferred to facilitate a higher expansion ratio. As a result, pumping losses are reduced and thermal efficiency is enhanced.

The latest 1.3-litre Miller engine is the smallest production unit of this type. It has evolved from the engine used by the Mazda 2 and will feature a series of valve timing and will drive through a CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic gearbox. In Mazdas versions of Millennia and Eunos sedans, the Miller-cycle engine has been used by Mazda during the mid-'90s. And for the first time, the Miller system will be marketing the smaller displacement Mazda2 application world wide.

The Mazda fans anticipated the conventional 1.3 and 1.5 liters of petrol engines from the latest Mazda car. A 1.4-litre turbodiesel that was co-developed by Ford and PSA group for the Fiesta hatch is also expected to come along with the new Mazda 2.

The new Mazda 2 will further enjoy other fuel and emissions saving protocols. The most important among these is that its more spacious than its predecessor but it will look externally smaller as well as 100kg lighter.

According to Mazda and Ford insiders, the new Mazda2 will be one of the most significant cars introduced this year and a major stepping stone in the European expansion of Mazda.

The Mazda2 is a small minivan or tall station wagon which was first introduced in 1996. It is also known as Demio, Mazda 121, Mazda Metro and Ford Festiva Mini Wagon. Eight hundred ninety two thousand (892,000) Mazda2 vehicles have been sold all over the world as of 2005 since it was first introduced.

Ford asked Mazda to create a B-segment small car for it during the 1980s. As a result, the 1987 Ford Festiva was produced. The same platform was used by the Autozam Revue in 1990. The latter vehicle was sold by Mazda under the name Mazda 121 in many markets. Using the same platform, the Festiva was innovated in January 1993. Kia Motors also made versions of the first and second Festiva for its company and Fords sale in the US.

The automotive industry anticipates to the improvements of Mazda2 in 2008 as the Micro Sport coupe which is to be on sale in Europe and Japan. The vehicle will come with either an MZR 1.35 liter engine or a MZR 1.5 liter engine- a lager one. Moreover, according to Mazda, the MPS model will have a direct-injection Turbo engine and all-wheel-drive.

The next generation of the 2008 Mazda2 will be built in Hiroshima, Japan and not in Valencia, Spain.

Is A1 GP Formula 1s Winter Solution?

Perhaps youve heard of the A1 GP? Most likely not, since its not a well known entity of mainstream media.

Although I had briefly heard about it, it wasnt until one early morning (1AM) that I stumbled upon it on The Speed Channel while surfing for something to watch

The concept of A1 GP is rather novel since its billed as the world or nations cup of motorsports. The series allows countries to enter a single car per nation to race for the A1 GP Championship

Currently there are 22 Nations competing in the spec series, which borrows its race format style from various racing series. The A1 GP race weekend seems loosely modeled after the GP2 format with a morning sprint race and an afternoon main event

What is GP2 you may ask? GP2 is a new racing series replacing International F3000 beginning in 2005. F3000 was the final rung of the European feeder-system leading into Formula 1, one level below the top racing series. Supposedly its name didnt fit-in with the F1 scene. Of course Im not too sure how GP2 does much better

At least now the steps are a little more defined, with Formula 3 progressing to GP2 and ultimately leading to F1. Plus the new GP2 series is owned by F1 Supremo Bernie Eccleston and his cohort in crime: Flavio Briatore

The A1 GP is a spec series utilizing identical Lola chassis fitted with Zytec normally aspirated 3.4 liter V-8 engines. The Lola is built to contemporary race car standards loosely resembling a modern day F1 chassis. And the A1s front wing treatment reminds me of the much unloved Jordan Grand Prix EJ13.

This design solution was taken in an apparent attempt to create ease of overtaking for the drivers when closely following behind another competitor. As there have been complaints of lack of overtaking in Formula 1 in recent years

The Zytec lumps produce 520bhp with an added power boost of 30bhp on tap for a limited number of maximum 550bhp power squirts. (Power shots = 4 for sprint race and 8 for feature race) The extremely lightweight Zytec power plant is required to last an entire season without rebuilding

Taking a page from Formula 1 the teams are mandated to make one cursory pit stop for fresh rubber during the 70 minute feature race. Yet unlike F1, the pit crew consists of only six members with two jack-men and one man per tire who must remove and install the tire by himself. And theres no refueling during pit stops, which must occur prior to a minimum number of laps left before the end of the race

The top six finishers earn points towards the championship with a maximum of 10 being awarded the winner. Better yet is the prize fund, which pays $300,000 to first place, $200,000 to second and $100,000 to third

And although the A1 GP air times on Speed mostly begin at midnight, the two hour shows are quite entertaining to watch with Wattie (John Watson) and Ben Edwards in the announce booth. Edwards gets quite excited while Wattie tends to drone on with blastamy towards the drivers on-track decisions. I guess thats what happens when youre an ex-Formula 1 driver

France won the inaugural Nations cup in 2005/06 while Germany currently holds a commanding lead this season with 19 year old phenom Nico Hulkenberg. Team Germany is owned by Willi Weber, with the young German under Webers tutelage. You may recall Weber being Michael Schumachers manager

So can the A1 GP compete with Formula 1? Wisely the series runs opposite of the normal Open Wheel racing calendar with visits to regions currently not hosting F1 races

Although the fledgling series is in its infancy, it appears to have all the right ingredients to succeed

Be Courageous!

Courage is defined as greatness of heart, spirit to meet danger, and boldness.

God commanded Joshua three times to be strong and have good courage and assured him of His constant presence if His commandments were obeyed. (Josh. 1:8-9) He promised that: the eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. (Deut. 33:27)

Knowing the Lord and obeying His commandments are the two main ingredients for the God kind of courage. El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient and Mighty One is on your side! He is Jehovah Nissi; the Lord, your Victory Banner. (Ex. 17:15) Isnt that interesting? The victory banner is hoisted AFTER the battle! That means that the battle is already won! Christs defeat of Satan on the cross has made you more than a conqueror. (Rom. 8:37) Tell Him about the battles youre facing and nestle underneath the everlasting arms while he destroys your enemy.

You are equipped with the full armor of God. Moses and Joshua were assured of Gods presence and guidance due to their obedience to the Law. Through Christs sacrifice you have the assurance of having already overcome because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4) You are not fighting a physical enemy but youre up against evil spiritual forces. Although this sounds ominous, all you will need to do is STAND! Yes, stand, protected by the whole armor of God.

Davids only physical armor in his battle against Goliath was a slingshot! To the heavily armored giant he shouted: Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear; but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the armies. David was the ONLY person who knew without a doubt that God would deliver Goliath into his hands! There had been a number of battles to overthrow the Philistines to no avail. His brother ridiculed him, the giant jeered at him, and both armies stood by in total disbelief and amusement. Was David daunted by that? Did disbelief, shame and doubt enter his head? After all he wasnt even old enough to be in the army! NO! He declared out loud to everyone that they shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lords! Then he ran up to the man whom everyone feared, with only five smooth stones in his hand but fully armed with the anointing of the Lord of Hosts. There was no iota of doubt in him as he knew his God; His faithfulness, His previous exploits and, most of all, His intimate fellowship with him. (1 Samuel 17)

How about you? Are you being influenced by voices of doubt and unbelief? Or do you take courage in the strength and full protection of the Lord of Hosts? Dont forget to put on His armor. Its not heavy but it will help you to stand and be courageous.

You must first of all know the Truth of the Word of God. Only the Word can effect the salvation of your soul. Once assured of salvation, you know you have been made righteous by His blood. This is your main armor: the breastplate that protects your heart and most vulnerable parts. Now youre equipped to share the gospel wherever you go and use your ever-increasing faith as a shield to ward off doubts and fears. Being born again by the Spirit of God protects your mind, keeping it focused on His Word and Divine Will. Lastly, pray constantly using the Word of God, not human wisdom, to come against the forces that attack you. They shall flee at the onslaught of this Sword of the Spirit! (Eph.: 6:10-18)

Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest. (Josh. 1:9)
